Ingredients and spices that need to be Take to make Swaminarayan Temple Khichdi:

  1. 2 cups Rice
  2. 1 cup Toor daal
  3. 1/4 cup Chana daal
  4. 1/4 cup Moong daal
  5. 1/4 cup Masoor daal
  6. 2 tablespoons Urad daal
  7. 2 tablespoons Horse gram
  8. 2 tablespoons Green peas
  9. 8 cups Warm water water
  10. 1/4 cup Chopped French beans
  11. 1 Cubed potato small
  12. 1 tsp Chopped ginger
  13. 2 Chopped green chillies
  14. 8 Curry leaves
  15. 1/4 tsp Hing
  16. 1 tbsp Ghee
  17. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  18. 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  19. 2 tsp Cumin powder
  20. 2 tsp Coriander powder
  21. 1 tsp Chilli powder
  22. 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  23. 2 tsp Garam masala powder
  24. 1/2 tsp Sugar
  25. to taste Salt
  26. For Tempering:
  27. 1 tablespoon Butter
  28. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  29. 2 Dry red chillies
  30. 1/2 tsp Hing
  31. 7-8 Curry leaves
  32. 1/4 tsp+ Fenugreek seeds
  33. 1 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves

Steps to make to make Swaminarayan Temple Khichdi

  1. First, wash and soak all the grains together in a deep pot for 20 minutes in hot water
  2. Then drain the water for plants. Let's prepare the Khichdi.
  3. Heat a pressure pan or handi. Heat ghee in it. Add cumin, mustard, hing, chillies, curry leaves and saute well
  4. Add all the vegetables and stir - mix well. Add all the spice powders and fry well.
  5. Now add the grains and stir cook with 1/4 cup water. When all the flavours are absorbed and mixed, adjust masalas, add salt and sugar, check the seasonings and add rest of the water.
  6. Close the pressure cooker lid, attach weight and cook on medium flame for 5 Whistles.
  7. When pressure has been completely released, open lid. Prepare final tempering by heating butter, add cumin, hing, methi seeds, red chillies, curry leaves, and pour on the Khichdi. (I have added 1 tsp chopped garlic.) You can skip too. Stir well, close lid again to let absorb flavours.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves, red chilli and curry leaves.Serve steaming hot with kadhi or curd and pickle.Drool and enjoy!
