- For Moong Dal khichdi
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 1/2 cup tomato chopped
- 1-2 spoon ghee(clarrifield butter) /oil
- 1/4 spoon cumin seeds
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 1 spoon ginger grated /paste
- 1 chhoped green chilli
- as per taste Salt
- 1/4 spoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 spoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 cup any kind of rice
- 1/2 cup moong dal (skinless petite yellow lentils)
- 4 cups water or more to adjust
- 1 pinch asafoetida
- 1/2 spoon ghee for topping
- As Required carrot cubed
- 8-10 french beans cut into 1inch 1small potato cubed)
Instructions to make to make Lunch Platter
- Add rice moong dal to a pot rinse them at least thrice then drain the water completely. Keep aside.
- Heat ghee in presser cooker add cumin seeds saute add ginger saute add assofodeta add chopped onions saute.
- Add green chilli saute till onions turns golden add chopped tometoes add(carrots beans potato es) saute.
- Add salt red chilli powder turmeric powder mix well all together. Add drained dal n rice all saute 4-5min.
- Pour drinking water as needed for mushy contency. Stir well add salt
- Cover the presser cooker and let cook for 2whistles. Let the presser release on its own.
- Then open the lid and mix well. Add curry leaves. If it's thick add 1/2 cup boiling water and simmer it.
- Top khichdi with little ghee served with roasted papad pickle salad or raita.
- Khichdi is a simple healthy delicious meal. This dal khichdi is protein packed.
